An Introduction to Daniel
The name Dani‘el means “God has judged.” This book is not written in reference to a judgment against Daniel, but through his writings, dreams, and visions, he stands as a judge against the Jewish people in Jerusalem and even Babylon in his present day to the ‘Mystery Babylon’ in the future. The visions and accounts reveal Daniel’s faithfulness to God and how God rewards his obedience to Torah.
A B’rit-Milah or Bris
The b’rit-milah is as important in the walk of a gentile follower of Yeshua as it is for every Jewish family. After all, the son of Adonai had a bris at eight days and was given the name Yeshua, the name appointed for the unique son of Adonai. The bris is as powerful and significant for followers of Yeshua just as being immersed in water to show forth a committed walk, honoring the Biblical Sabbath created by Adonai, entering into the covenant of marriage where two become one flesh, living out Torah as Yeshua taught his disciples, and even not eating ‘unclean’ foods as outlined in Leviticus chapter 11 and explained by Peter in Acts chapter 10.
The 70 Nations
According to Genesis 11, Adonai dispersed them around the earth. From the clues given in Deuteronomy 32:8, they were separated according to the ‘sons of God.’ Although the Hebrew Masoretic text says ‘sons of Israel’ or bene Yisra’el, there was no Israel at this time. The Septuagint and the Qumran Dead Sea Scroll’s text says ‘sons of God’ or bene elohim. This implies that Adonai divided the nations based on the number of his sons gathered in his divine council.
