Emet in Hebrew means ‘truth, right, faithful.’ The word ‘truth’ is found 77 times in the Hebrew Scriptures. The ‘truth’ as written in the Torah sanctifies (John 17:17). The ‘truth’ is a teaching guide for life. Speaking ‘truth’ will bring persecution. The teachings of Yeshua are ‘truth’ because he is the ‘truth’ (John 14:6). Obeying the ‘truth’ sets God’s people apart from the rest of the world. True worship requires ‘truth’ (John 4:24).
“Your righteousness is eternal righteousness, and your Torah is truth” (Psalm 119:42, Complete Jewish Bible).
“Guide me in your truth, and teach me; for you are the God who saves me, my hope is in you all day long” (Psalm 25:5).
“Adonai, teach me your way, so that I can live by your truth; make me single-hearted, so that I can fear your name” (Psalm 86:11).
