Truth – Hebrew: Emet

The word ‘truth’ is found 77 times in the Hebrew Scriptures. Truth as found in the Torah is righteous.  The Truth is a teaching guide for life. Speaking the Truth will bring persecution. The teachings of Yeshua are Truth because he taught from the Hebrew Scriptures (John 17:17). Following his teachings makes us Yeshua’s disciples. Obeying the Truth of sets God’s people apart from the rest of the world. Worshipping requires Truth.


Emet in Hebrew means ‘truth, right, faithful.’

“Your righteousness is eternal righteousness, and your Torah is truth(Psalm 119:42). Complete Jewish Bible

“Guide me in your truth, and teach me; for you are the God who saves me, my hope is in you all day long” (Psalm 25:5).

“Adonai, teach me your way, so that I can live by your truth; make me single-hearted, so that I can fear your name” (Psalm 86:11).

“They hate anyone promoting justice at the city gate, they detest anyone who speaks the truth (Amos 5:10).

“Set them apart for holiness by means of the truth — your word is truth (John 17:17). Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)

“If you obey what I say, then you are really my talmidim [disciples], you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32).

“But the time is coming – indeed, it’s here now – when the true (faithful)  worshippers will worship the Father spiritually and truly (rightly), for these are the kind of people the Father wants worshipping him.  God is spirit; and worshippers must worship him spiritually and truly” (John 4:23-24).
