“The Spirit expressly states that in the acharit-hayamim [last days] some people will apostatize from the faith by paying attention to deceiving spirits and things taught by demons” (1 Timothy 4:1).
In the past few days I’ve been ‘enlightened’ to the Enneagram and its roots in the occult. This ‘enlightenment’ was to its actual existence. Now that I am learning about the enneagram, I find its timing interesting as Halloween approaches.
What wasn’t so amazing to learn is that Christians are using this ‘doctrine of demons’ to find their identity and define their personality. So much of modern Christianity has apostatized –– fallen away from the teachings of the apostles and its Hebrew/Jewish foundation.
Christendom has lost the idea of finding their identity in Yeshua and becoming a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). His followers are to be transformed into His image producing 9 fruits of the Spirit, not 9 personality traits. They seek, along with the world, to know more about their carnal self –– the very ‘self’ with which the serpent tempted Havah.
“For men will be lovers of self … holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power… captivat[ing] weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth” (2 Timothy 3:1-7).
Many who profess being Christian still rationalize celebrating Halloween, the epitome of the demonic –– Satan’s highest holy day. So, it’s not difficult to comprehend how they can embrace more of occult and pagan practices. The Adversary ‘masquerades as an angel of light’ and so many love his light for their life. (1 Peter 5:8).
“He [Menasseh] made his sons pass through the fire in the valley of Ben-hinnom; and he practiced witchcraft, used divination, practiced sorcery and dealt with mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking Him to anger” (2 Corinthians 6:3).
Most Christians do not believe their disobedience to God’s Torah can ever provoke Him to anger because of His grace. Some even believe they can ‘redeem’ demonic activities, even those forbidden in Scripture, because of Jesus or the Holy Spirit.
Man can never make holy that which God has called an abomination whether it’s unclean foods, embracing the traditions of false gods or worship of ‘self.’ To believe this is only sugar-coating the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil making it easier to swallow and leading to more deception. And then, there’s Halloween. “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap” (Galatians 6:7).
