Chukkah in Hebrew means ‘statute, custom, ordinance’ from God. The word ‘statute’ or ‘regulation’ occurs 73 times in the Hebrew Scriptures. ‘Statutes’ make up the way of life as outlined by God. In Torah the regulations are considered permanent or perpetual ‘statutes’ throughout all the generations of God’s people.
