Praise, New Song – Hebrew: Tehillah

The Hebrew word tehillah means ‘spontaneous new song.’ This is worship from the heart that is unplanned whether it’s singing or playing an instrument. The most familiar tehillah is the 144,000 who stand on Mount Tziyon and ‘sing a new song’ or tehillah (Revelation 14:3). Tehillah is found 57 times in Scripture.

“Nevertheless, you are holy, enthroned on the tehillah of Isra’el” (Psalm 22:3).

“Sing to Adonai a new song! Let his tehillah be sung from the ends of the earth by those sailing the sea and by everything in it, by the coastlands and those living there” (Isaiah 42:10).

“Heal me, Adonai, and I will be healed; save me, and I will be saved, for you are my tehillah ” (Jeremiah 17:14).
