Precepts – Hebrew: Piqqud


Piqqud in Hebrew means ‘precepts’

“The people of Israe’el are to keep the Shabbat, to observe Shabbat through all their generations as a perpetual covenant (loving-kindness)” (Exodus 34:27, CJB).

“Then the LORD said to Moses, ‘Write down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant (precept)  with you and with Israel” (Exodus 34:27, NIV).

Pey – ‘A Mouth’ means ‘source or speak’

Yod – ‘Closed Hand’ means ‘a finished work’

Koof – ‘Back of the Head’ means ‘what is past, what is behind’

Vav – ‘A Nail’ means ‘binding together or bound’

Dalet – ‘A Door’ means ‘door or pathway’

piqqud – the source of what is behind the finished work binding the pathway
