November 23, 2020

Beloved friends, let us love one another; because love is from God; and everyone who loves has God as his Father and knows God. Those who do not love, do not know God; because God is love.”

The Hebrew word for ‘love’ is אהבא is ahavah and means ‘affection.’

The Greek word for ‘love’ is agape and means ‘long for, esteem.’

The Biblical definition of love is found in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. This definition is not only how we are to love others, but how God loves us. It is a relational love that understood only through experiencing God.

“Love is patient and kind, not jealous, not boastful, not proud, rude or selfish, not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not gloat over other people’s sins but takes its delight in the truth. Love always bears up, always trusts, always hopes, always endures.”

The Greek word for ‘beloved’ comes from agape and means ‘unconditional love’ coming from God/Yeshua.

The Hebrew word for ‘beloved’ comes from ahav and can mean ‘friend’ or ‘lover.’ ‘Beloved’ is used for the bride in the Song of Solomon while the Bridegroom is ‘Lover.’

The Hebrew word for ‘know’ is ידה or l’dat and means ‘experience.’

The Greek word for ‘know’ is ginosko and means ‘to come to know, recognize, perceive’ implying a relationship.

Bride of Messiah, let us be patient and kind to one another, not jealous or boastful, not proud, rude or selfish; because not keeping a record of wrongs or gloating over others’ sins is not easily angered, this love is from God; and everyone who takes delight in the truth s has God as his Father and experiences God. Those who do not love, are not in relationship with God; because God always bears up, always trusts, always hopes, and always endures.”
