Shem or שם is the root of shema and means ‘the name.’ This was the name of Noach’s son through whom the ‘seed’ came.

Priest – Hebrew: Cohen
The priests of Israel descended from the Tribe of Levi, the high priests from the Levitical family of Aaron. The Levitical priesthood had responsibilities within the Tabernacle. They were also to be teachers of Torah. They received no land inheritance because their inheritance was to be a priest of God.
Bethlehem – Hebrew: Beit-Lechem
Bethlehem or Beit-Lechem literally means ‘house of bread.’ Beit-Lechem is where Rachel, the wife of Jacob was buried. The account of Ruth meeting her kinsman redeemer occurs in Beit-Lechem. The prophet Micah prophesied that the ‘future ruler of Isra’el’ would be born in the small village of Beit-Lechem. David, a future ruler of Isra’el, lived in Beit-Lechem and Yeshua, the King of kings fulfilled Micah’s prophecy.
Parashah 1: B’resheet (In the beginning) – GENESIS
In Hebrew, the ‘Spirit of God’ is Ruach Elohim. Ruach literally means ‘wind’ so this would be the ‘wind of God’ hovering over the surface of the water. The Hebrew word yovel used in this verse means ‘brooding.’ ‘Brooding’ means to ‘cover with one’s wings for protection’ like a hen covers her baby chicks (Matthew 23:37).
