According to the NASB, iniquity is found 192 times in the Hebrew Scriptures; guilt 172 in the Complete Jewish Bible. It is iniquity in the heart that causes sinful behavior. After King David sinned with Bat Sheva, he was so grieved with his guilt and the iniquity in his heart that he asked Elohim not to take His Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) from him. There is double punishment for iniquity that not only includes guilt, but also the punishment that comes from being guilty.

These articles give insight into the meaning of Hebrew words.
Day – Hebrew: Yom
The Hebrew word for ‘day’ is יום or yom and means ‘a period of time.’ This word must be defined within the context it is written.
Fear – Hebrew: Yirah
When we ‘fear’ God, we will be ‘morally reverent’ to His laws, commandments, Torah. We will obey Him and receive His righteousness and be ‘kept alive.’ If we do not yirah Him, we will live an immoral life, rejecting everything He gave us ‘for our own good’ and ‘die.’
Soul – Hebrew: Nefesh
The first time nefesh is used in Scripture it refers to the animals in the sea, the air, and on the land when they were created as ‘breathing’ creatures. When it is used of man in Genesis 2:8, it includes the living, breathing person of Adam along with the neshama of God’s divine ‘breath’ giving Adam not just physical animal/flesh soul, but a living spiritual soul as well.
