July 4, 2015 – Freedom Rings

“What the Messiah has freed us for is freedom! Therefore, stand firm, and don’t let yourselves be tied up again to a yoke of slavery” (Galatians 5:1).

Today is the day when everyone remembers the historic signing of the Declaration of Independence setting the United States free from the tyranny of British rule.   We celebrate those who fought hard and stood their ground giving us one of the most unique countries in the history of the world.  We celebrate our freedoms as individual human beings equally created with the inalienable right to pursue life, liberty, and happiness as ‘one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.’

Last Sunday, June 28, 2015, purely by coincidence, I was in San Francisco during the gay pride parade where thousands upon thousands of Americans were celebrating ‘greatest event in the history of the United States’, not the Declaration of Independence, but  the proclamation that same-sex couples were given the right, the freedom to marry – #lovewins.

As I thought about writing this blog, I wasn’t sure how to approach all my thoughts from this historic event imposed on the American people and how it changes freedom in America now, or describing all of the abnormal activities that I saw, heard, and even smelled in and around the parade, or using Scripture to illuminate these prophesied events, or how it affects or should affect the Body of Messiah.   I decided to touch on all four because all four are important for various reasons.

Freedom or Slavery

Americans, especially younger Americans who have not studied or been exposed to the details of the United States Constitution, have no idea what freedoms they actually have and which ones are  already lost or are in the process of being lost while many of their peers stand in the heat of foreign countries sacrificing their lives for that same Constitution.   Recently some college-aged young people I talked with actually said it didn’t matter what happened with the Constitution because it didn’t affect them directly.  If this attitude along with the ignorance of how this country was founded is indicative of the larger populace who raised this next generation, then I believe the demise of this country has already occurred.

There are those who say that every generation witnessed what we’re seeing – burning of flags, for example – and that expression of freedom of speech is what makes this country great.  Though Americans have the right to burn an American flag as they did in the 1960s, I don’t believe what happened 55 years ago was from an ‘I hate everything including America’ but an ‘I hate what America is doing in the world’ especially when it came to the war.   What I do find interesting is that after the most ‘historic event in American history’ that allows everyone to love and marry who they choose, young people are burning the American flag.  It seems ironic to me because they are not protesting something America is doing or has done, but as an outright hatred for the very country that allows burning of its flag.  Of course since the condemnation and removal  of the Confederate flag as a symbol of slavery, not only are purchases of  Nazi and ISIS flags booming, but there are people calling for the removal of the American flag altogether!   Again, this is the evidence of the freedoms we have, but is it truly freedom or a new kind of slavery? As Galatians states, we can be freed for freedom, but find ourselves even more enslaved.

Separation of Powers

imgresThe Constitution of the United States explicitly outlines the  three branches in our federal government.  Each has been given certain powers and authority so as not to over-step their individual boundaries.  This is known as checks and balances.   There is the executive branch which includes the president.  This branch of our government executes the laws created by the legislative branch.  The chief executive or president is elected through the electoral college.  Though it is somewhat outdated and sometimes doesn’t represent the majority vote of the nation, it is still how we elect our president since we are not a full-fledged democracy.    By having the executive come under the check and balance of the judicial and legislative branches, We the People are protected from tyranny or one person (the president) using his pen to make laws and become a dictator based on what he wants or thinks is right or wrong.   The second branch of government is known as the legislative which creates the laws.  State representatives and senators are elected by We the People in our states  and become our voice in government at the national level.  We the People are given the privilege to suggest laws and vote for changes through a law-making body that we elect.    By having a legislative branch representing the people, we retain a government ‘for the people and by the people.’  Again because we are not a full-fledged democracy but a Constitutional Republic, changes in the law and even the Constitution take time to enact so that all people, not just large groups or special interest have their voice heard.  The executive and judicial branch check and balance the Constitutionality of the laws created before they are executed.    The third branch is the judicial which interprets the laws created by Congress and executed by the president.    The nine Supreme Court justices are nominated by the president and approved by the Congress so that, once again,  We the People are protected from  nine judges making laws from personal and public opinions for the whole the nation.  They are checked and balanced by the executive and legislative branches of government.

The first Constitutional problem with the #lovewins law is that the judicial branch, the Supreme Court, overstepped its legal boundaries and created a law.   The second Constitutional problem is that is was done by nine justices of the Supreme Court who are not elected by the American people creating overstepping the checks and balances.  By not caring that the Supreme Court just created a law and then executed it over We the People,  we become pawns in a political system rather than a free people and a self-governing nation.  With too many complacent and uneducated Americans not demanding the Supreme Court do its job  according to the Constitution, it can now create and enact whatever laws it wants over We the People.   Though many people understand the concept of tyranny, one person ruling over many, they do not comprehend the other dangerous rule of oligarchy when a few (nine) rule over many.

The Supreme Court ruling also involves another fundamental right of the American people.  It’s called Freedom of Religion.  This freedom was enacted so that the there would never be a state-run religious system like the Church of England from which Americans wanted freedom.   For years now there has been a cry of ‘separation of church and state’.  While that phrase is nowhere in the Constitution and was not penned by any of the Founding Fathers, it is a phrase that has become the buzz-cry of anti-Christian Americans even though Freedom of Religion gives every American the right to be atheist, agnostic, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, Satanist, Jewish and Christian.  As the buzz phrase has become more grounded in our cultural lingo, Judeo-Christian symbols continue to be the only religious symbols to be removed from government buildings and property along with trying to erase those values from the society.  So be it.  Because I love the God of Israel and live my faith based on the Bible, I know that man’s worldly governments will always be contrary to God’s.   That’s the way it is.  Yeshua knew it.  I know it. He lived with it.  I live with it.  He was not offended.  I am not offended. His Kingdom is not of this world.  I am a citizen of his Kingdom and only an ambassador here.

However, with the mandate that all states have to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, the separation of church and state are no longer separate.  The federal government, more specifically the Supreme Court,  is now telling religious organizations who they must marry with financial consequences (and probably more soon to come)  if they don’t.   The non-religious now cheer the very thing they disdained – the co-joining of the church and state.  Soon, there will be a state-run religious system and few Americans, including athesists, will be happy with what transpires.

From my personal point of view, marriage is a religious institution.  Every religious system considers marriage between a man and a woman whether a person is Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, Jewish or Christian.   Marriage licenses should never have been issued through the state.  They should have only been issued through whatever religious organization in which one desired to marry.  The state should have issued civil union certificates to anyone who wanted the civil rights given to civil unions via a piece of legal paper.  If a couple didn’t want those civil rights, then all they would need is a marriage license through their religious organization; if they wanted both, they could have both.   If a same-sex couple wanted a marriage license through a religious organization, that organization has the religious freedom to to accept or deny.  Period.  What is happening now is that some states are standing against the Supreme Court ruling and no longer going to issue marriage licenses not only allowing the re-definition of marriage, but destroying the religious institution of marriage all together.  On an historical note to see how far moral issues and immorality have evolved,  the reason marriage licenses were issued in the first place was to give legality to a sexual relationship in a time when fornication and sodomy was illegal.  The reason they were issued by the ‘state’ was because there was never a clause separating ‘church from state.’

I take no issue with same-sex civil unions as everyone in the United States  has equal rights under the Constitution to pursue life, liberty and happiness.   I do take issue, however, with the state dictating what religious organizations must do when the buzz cry has been for a separation.  It has become clear that separation of church and state only has value when people want nothing to do with their Judeo-Christian foundation, but champion state controlling church when it profits political gain.

Gay Pride Parade

IMG_2503I posted only a few comments about the obnoxious things I witnessed with my eyes during my time meandering through the crowds because I really didn’t want to flood Facebook with such decadence.  I took no photos because I didn’t want to give those who might see my camera the satisfaction of being photographed.    I lost several FB ‘friends’ over what I posted, but actually gained more.  I even had several people contact me and tell me they bought my book! I believe that some people’s tolerance of same-sex unions and intolerance of my personal testimony speaks for itself.  Yeshua promised a separation of sheep and goats before his return.  A separation is obviously happening and the goats are not liking that their camouflage is being removed and they are being seen for what they are, so they attack the sheep – those who do what God wants (Matthew 25:31-46).

Yet, God put me in San Francisco at that time for His purpose.  I was told quite clearly by the Spirit of God to remain silent.  I did.  I spent most of my time looking at the different businesses along the street (all closed) because I didn’t want the depraved images in the street to remain forever etched in my psyche.  In spite of standing completely separate from the crowds on the sidewalk, I still saw enough nudity, men grinding on floats in thongs and cross dressers being photo-opted to persuade me for the rest of my life that what is going on in our culture is tragic.

I know there are those who will say, ‘This is only the minority’ and though there may be some truth that a majority of same-sex couples do not behave like this and do not flaunt their sexual prowess before humankind; the fact that they do not stand against a parade of such depravity, I have to believe they support it by their silence.  For those who want to believe what I witnessed was only a  minority of those in gay lifestyle, stay in your darkness, remember this was only one major city in the United States; numerous others had their historic gay pride parades too.  Not only did major corporations like Yahoo and Google have floats, hundreds of thousands of normal everyday folks were swept up in the day of celebrating ‘gay pride’ and #lovewins and parading with them.

“This is why God has given them up to the vileness of their hearts’ lusts, to the shameful misuse of each other’s bodies. They have exchanged the truth of God for falsehood, by worshipping and serving created things, rather than the Creator — praised be he for ever. Amen.  This is why God has given them up to degrading passions; so that their women exchange natural sexual relations for unnatural;  and likewise the men, giving up natural relations with the opposite sex, burn with passion for one another, men committing shameful acts with other men and receiving in their own persons the penalty appropriate to their perversion.  In other words, since they have not considered God worth knowing, God has given them up to worthless ways of thinking; so that they do improper things.  They are filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and vice; stuffed with jealousy, murder, quarrelling, dishonesty and ill-will; they are gossips,  slanderers, haters of God; they are insolent, arrogant and boastful; they plan evil schemes; they disobey their parents;  they are brainless, faithless, heartless and ruthless.  They know well enough God’s righteous decree that people who do such things deserve to die; yet not only do they keep doing them, but they applaud others who do the same(Romans 1:24-32).

Nothing New Under the Sun

There were two specific times when I felt like I was being transported back in history.   The first one happened on a side street while waiting for my sisters-in-law to take photos.  I observed hundreds upon hundreds of average and probably normal heterosexual young people, mostly young women,  dressed in rainbow-colored tie-dyed T-shirts holding rainbow-colored flags waiting for their turn to enter Market Street.  Most were milling around chatting with one another until the thumping and bumping of a float loudspeaker made them, as well as me,  turn to look at what was coming down the street.   As several mostly naked men in thongs were  … well, imagine what they were doing … the groups on the side street began cheering, dancing, and waving their flags higher until many were imitating the actions of the men on the float.    I felt like I was in the scene from ‘The Ten Commandments” when Moses comes down from the mountain and sees sexual perversions going on around the worship of the golden calf supposedly in honor of  YHVH, the God of Israel.    Knowing that they sincerely believed that what they were doing and how they were doing it was acceptable to God,  I understood why Moses threw down the tablets of God’s commandments: they didn’t deserve them.    I understood why he made them drink the bitter waters of the melted calf: to always remember the bitter taste of their abominations in their own mouths.    I also understood what those Israelites who didn’t join in the lasciviousness  must have felt like as they stood back and watched the sexual indulgence and drunkenness happening before their eyes.  They probably didn’t expect freedom from slavery in Egypt to look like this!

“The LORD said, “The outcry against Sodom and ‘Amora is so great and their sin so serious that I will now go down and see whether their deeds warrant the outcry that has reached me; if not, I will know.” The men [the angels] turned away from there and went toward Sodom” (Genesis 18:21-21).

The second time I went back in time was when I turned another corner to move away from the crowd.  I came face to face, eye to eye with a cross-dresser.  His make-up and  his full-bodied white speedo costume with huge white feathery wings was an impeccable and undeniable angel costume.  His demeanor and presence were so powerful that people with young children (one even had headphones on so he couldn’t ‘hear’?)  stopped to have their photos taken with him.  As I watched these people line up for their photo session, I knew what Lot must have felt like when the three angels visited him.  Sodom had become so corrupt that the whole town came to his door to ‘know’ the three men.  In Hebrew the word is yada and is used ten times in Genesis to refer to sexual intercourse.  Lot offered his virgin daughters who had not ‘known’  a man to the crowd,  but they  refused.   The whole city had become so blind to their sexual perversions that a heterosexual relationship which may even have included the gang rape of virgin young women wouldn’t quench their desire to have sex with not just mere men, but angels – the very thing the earth was destroyed for ‘in the days of Noah’.    As I watched innocent children being photographed with this ‘angelic’ cross-dresser and being indoctrinated with immorality, I understood why there needed to be fire and brimstone on Sodom.  God had to cleanse the earth not only from the ideology of sexual perversion, but from those who would continue to cultivate it into the next generations.   A part of me waited for the San Andreas fault to split and swallow this whole city in one gulp.   For it not to happen in those moments, there must have been many people interceding for the few righteous who happened to find themselves in the middle of an historic gay pride parade.  I know there were people interceding for me and I thank all of you for your faithfulness.  I felt incredibly protected by God.

Sin of Sodom

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12:2).

IMG_2507I have read quite a few articles written by pro-same-sex marriage people who search the Bible for support that the sin of Sodom was not sodomy or homosexuality.  Generally they use Ezekiel 16:49; unfortunately, they leave out verse 50.

“’49 Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.  50 They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen”  (Ezekiel 16:49-50).

In verse 49, the people of Sodom were arrogant, overfed and could have cared less about other people.  They only cared about themselves and not how their lives affected or didn’t affect those around them.  They wanted what they wanted and took it.  In verse 50, the Sodomites are called ‘haughty’.   The word haughty means they thought of themselves as better than everyone else which includes arrogance and pride.  In fact, the first synonym in a Thesaurus for the word haughty is PRIDE.  Thus, Gay Pride is nothing more than homosexuals being haughty and arrogant against God and everyone else.  They don’t care about other people, others’ values, others’ anything.  They want what they want and they take it.   In addition to their ‘pride’, the Sodomites did other detestable things that made it necessary for God to do away with them.  Not once in Scripture were they ever commended for their or even America’s concept of  #lovewins.

In the days that followed a public testimony of my eye witness account of this historic gay pride parade, I was called a hater.  I found it humorous because those that ‘pride’ themselves as tolerant are the first to ‘hate’ those who have differing views.  There’s something incongruous with that mindset, but okay.  Not everyone’s mind  has been transformed and renewed by the power of God.

I’m okay with being called a ‘hater’.    I honestly believe that the words of Isaiah 5:20 have come to pass where good is now considered evil and evil is good.  It’s prophecy.  It’s proof that God exists.  It’s proof that God’s moral standard embitters those who truly hate the God of the Bible and have created their own perceptions of God.   If people who loved their sinful ways hated Yeshua and killed him, they will hate me too.   The Bible actually says that so I know  I’m in good company.

I’m also okay with being called a ‘hater’ because even though God is love, He also hates (Proverbs 6:16-19).   He hates liars, plotting hearts, evil, false witnesses, shedding innocent blood,  and those that sow strife. He hates haughty eyes.  He hates what is going on in this world because even though He is Sovereign over the world,  it is still controlled by the ‘god of this world’ until Yeshua returns.    In the same way that He had to judge two Middle Eastern cities with fire and brimstone, His judgment will soon be part of the #lovewins package.

However, I believe that ‘hate’ has been taken out of context and redefined.   Please note: I do not hate individual homosexuals.  I do not hate gay people.  I have known gay people.  I have eaten with them in their homes and their restaurants.  A gay man cuts my hair!  To be clear, I am not a hater of people.  But, I do hate the immoral lifestyle of homosexuality because it shakes its fist in the face of God.  It embraces ‘the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life’ none of which comes from the God of the Bible and jeopardizes the foundation of our human culture (1 John 2:16).

Call a Spade a Spade

imgres-1“When a person sins, he breaks God’s law. Yes, sinning is the same as living against God’s law” (1 John 3:4 International Children’s Version).

Calling sin sin is not judgment.  It’s just a statement of truth from the Bible.  You don’t have to accept the definition of sin as God defines it, but I choose to do so because it allows a lot more freedom than all the definitions of sin that man and the church have come up with.

Sin is defined as breaking God’s law or His commands.  If something doesn’t break His commands – like dancing, drinking wine, instruments in church or smoking – it’s not sin.  If something does break His commands – like eating unclean foods, getting drunk on wine, dishonoring parents or ignoring Sabbath – it is sin.  Homosexuality breaks God’s commands, thus it falls under the category of sin in God’s eyes.  Period.

Here are several versions of Leviticus 18:22 just so the concept of homosexuality as a sin against God is clear.

“Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable” (New International Version).

“You are not to go to bed with a man as with a woman; it is an abomination” (Complete Jewish Bible).

“You shall not lie with a man as with a woman; it is an abomination” (Amplified Bible).

“Don’t have sex with a man as one does with a woman. That is abhorrent” (The Message).

“‘You must not have physical relations with a man as you would a woman. That is a hated sin” (International Children’s Bible).

Many of the modern-day arguments for homosexuality say Leviticus is Old  Testament, from an out-dated religion,  counter-modern-day culture, and even by some Christians done away with on the cross.  Whatever your personal view of the Bible, just know what Leviticus says and that it means what it says.  How you view sexual immorality and how same-sex marriage plays out in your life with your worldview is your business, but in the end, it will be God’s business.   Men having sex with men are sinning just as the sodomites did in the days of Lot and the wages of sin is death – eternal.

Soon after the historic #lovewins decision,  there was a news article that pedophiles now want the same rights as homosexuals to love who they choose.  I forget the term they used to define themselves, but basically they want the freedom to love little children.  When I have shared this article with people who support same-sex equality, they cringe, say an emphatic  ‘No, that’s not right’ or ‘That will never happen.’  Each time I respond with, ‘Why not?’  Almost 40 years ago in 1976 when I graduated during the Bi-centennial celebration of this country, no one was even thinking about legalizing homosexual relationships.  Sodomy was still illegal in most of the world until 2011.  Twenty-five years ago I would never have thought that same-sex marriage would become legal either; however when the courts overturned ‘special rights for gays’ in Colorado, I knew that We the People were losing our sovereignty, our voice in government, and our moral compass.

So, why not pedophilia?  Because it is morally wrong?  Why is it morally wrong?  Who determines that moral standard now?  How can pedophilia be wrong and immoral when #lovewins?  By what standard will we now judge pedophilia or incestuous relationships or beastiality as wrong, immoral or even illegal?  As our culture has embraced the immoral standards of fornication (sex before marriage), adultery (affairs and no-fault divorce), and now homosexuality, it must also consider embracing other immoral behaviors along with them.  As the Supreme Court sanctioned  one type of immorality as legal to the cheers and celebration of multitudes in America, they will have to sanction all areas of immorality based on their legal precedent of their definition of  ‘love.’

Those without a completely seared conscience know that pedophilia and beastiality are wrong, but they have no foundation to stand on except the one now allowed by the justice system.  Those who do not believe the Bible is counter-culture or out-dated know that homosexuality is immoral and a sin along with pedophilia, beastiality and incest, but the Bible, the God of the Bible and Judeo-Christian values are no longer the desired foundation for this country’s moral standard.  Without a moral standard for society, there will be legal lawlessness (assaults, rapes, child pornography, etc.).  Lawlessness creates chaos and eventually  crumbles the society itself.   Just study a little Roman history and learn why the greatest empire of all time known as ancient Rome fell in a day.

As for being some sort of judge, I am not judging anyone.  It’s not me that a gay person will have to stand in front of and explain their choice in sexual partner and the sinful behavior that God calls an abomination.  I am not the one the homosexual is going to give an account of his/her life to and wait for a verdict.   I am not the one who will sit on the judgment seat  in eternity and send some people into the New Jerusalem to eternal life and others into an  a burning lake of fire where they will weep and gnash their teeth in an eternal death.   Judgement is not my place and is completely and wholly God’s job.  Whether or not one believes in Him, He will judge sin.  That’s the reality of living in a created world with a Creator and a just God.  I am just called to speak His Words so that some might be saved from separation from God and not have to spend their eternity weeping and gnashing their teeth.

“Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10 NIV).

“But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death” (Revelation 21:8).

“Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.  Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood” (Revelation 22:14-15).

The Household of God

“For the time has come for the judgment to begin. It begins with the household of God; and if it starts with us, what will the outcome be for those who are disobeying God’s Good News?” (1 Peter 4:17).

The Bible says that God judges His own people first.   It’s not the immoral fornicators, heathen homosexuals, degenerate beast lovers or perverted pedophiles that God will judge.   They are already lost in the darkness of their souls, dying in their sins.   It’s not the pagans of the world that lower God’s standards of righteousness, it’s His people, who are called by His name,  who have cherry-picked apart the Bible.  ‘Christians’ who  randomly choose to ignore certain Scriptures in order to rationalize their own sin so they can get away with it and feel good about themselves are the ones bringing this judgement into the world and onto the Body of Christ.  In other words, through the actions of the Supreme Court, God is actually pouring judgement on His own people.  Those who don’t want the conviction of the Holy Spirit and have twisted His Word to make their sins more acceptable to the church and ultimately the world are not only corrupting God’s household and making their bridal gowns filthy, they are blaspheming the Spirit of God.  And, according to the New Testament, blaspheming the Spirit is the only unforgivable sin.

Will the household of God realize they are being judged or continue to say there is no judgement?   Will the household of God respond to this judgment with repentance and a return to a righteous lifestyle?   Will the household judge their own hearts before God and the actions that come from their hearts?   Will God’s household  repent from its wicked ways, its apostasies and doctrines of demons or lash out at those who are already lost and dying without hope?

“Then, if my people, who bear my name, will humble themselves, pray, seek my face and turn from their evil ways, I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).

I believe those who call themselves by the name of God, no matter which, what or where denomination, need to repent from falling away from the Apostles teachings known as the Great Falling Away.  They need to repent from believing and teaching doctrines that are contrary to the Word of God.  They need to return to the true gospel where the sinner is set free from a sinful lifestyle by the blood of Yeshua and not allowed themselves or others who are redeemed to wallow in sin by redefining it through lies.  God’s family needs to stop profaning their Father’s glorious name among the nations by living contrary to His commandments.   As brothers and sisters we need to quit compromising God’s Word in our personal lives and hearts where the Spirit of God lives and works out His perfect will for each of us.  As the Body of Messiah/Christ, we need to stop perverting the gospel’s message of freedom from sin to being set free from the standards of God’s moral law. Redefining, compromising, and denying the validity of His Word,  leaves no option except to allow sinful immoral behavior within the Body of Messiah.  Our  immoral behavior will have no effect on the fallen world; our immoral behavior just makes us more like the fallen world.

True believers who have faith in Yeshua/Jesus need to remember that Yeshua said God’s Kingdom is at hand, is now.  We need to live like we believe those words with a righteousness that brings the Light of that Kingdom back into the world.  We need to leave our church pews and our undying  commitment to an institution and become the pure and holy vessels God needs us to be so HE can reach the world He loves and gave His Son for.    We need to let our friends, family and those lives we touch everyday know that we have a testimony of being taken from a dark, deceived place that leads to death into the light of life.  We need to show them our transformed hearts and give them the one and only Spirit that can transform theirs.   We need to let people know that Yeshua’s death and resurrection brings salvation, redemption and a lifestyle that is full of God’s love, grace, and mercy.

“Therefore, do not let sin rule in your mortal bodies, so that it makes you obey its desires; and do not offer any part of yourselves to sin as an instrument for wickedness. On the contrary, offer yourselves to God as people alive from the dead, and your various parts to God as instruments for righteousness.  For sin will not have authority over you; because you are not under legalism but under grace” (Romans 6:12-14).

God’s Love is Unique

“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins” (1 John 4:10).

The world is crying out for love to win.  They want unconditional love, but not a Beatles ‘all you need is love’ song.  They need the sacrificial love that while we were all sinners, Messiah/Christ died for all of us, desiring that we have a restored relationship with our Creator.  Love does win when it covers a multitude of sins through repentance and forgiveness.  When the Body of Messiah shows for the love that transforms hearts and minds from sinful thoughts and actions into the righteousness of Messiah, then there will be hope for those who find themselves sitting in the muck at the bottom of the slippery sloped slide.

If you already know this kind of love, the love of God who sent Yeshua to live, die and resurrect to take away not only the sins of the world, but your personal sins and give you power over the sin in your life, then you have the good news of true freedom.  Share your testimony of being set free from fornication, adultery, homosexuality, pedophilia, whatever sin used to destroy you so that those lost in those sins see that there is a way out.  Emulate the amazing grace and mercy you experienced when you first humbled yourself before God and repented from your wicked and lawless ways.  Though it may not be easy to be honest,  there is no hate in a testimony of God’s redeeming love.  There is no judgment in a testimony of Yeshua’s sacrificial love.   There is no judgment when the Spirit of God convicts the world of sin; there is only hope.  Only you and I who have been set free from the slavery of  sin have the freedom to give that hope.

“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is” (Ephesians 5:5-16).

“Behave wisely toward outsiders, making full use of every opportunity — 6 let your conversation always be gracious and interesting, so that you will know how to respond to any particular individual” (Colossians 4:5-6).

When my husband and I realized that I was going to be in San Francisco for the Gay Pride Parade, our first thought was ‘for such a time as this.’  Though these days seem dark and dim not only for our nation, but also for those who hold onto the teachings and commandments of the God of Israel, they are also days of amazing opportunity.  When there is great darkness, the light shines more brightly.  When there is hopelessness, eternal hope is refreshing.    When love becomes twisted and redefined,  the love of God that brought forth His Son remains.  The love of Yeshua that binds the brokenhearted and heals the sexually wounded still has the power to transform.  He told us that before his return the world would be like the ‘days of Noah’ and ‘Sodom and Gomorrah’.    None of what is happening should surprise us.  We need to continue to have faith, obey his commandments and make disciples of all nations no matter what the cost is to us.   No man, no government, no judicial court,  no redefinition of morality, marriage, and love can take away the freedom for which we have been set free from the slavery of sin by Messiah Yeshua.  Halleluyah!
