Blessing of the Priests – Aaronic Blessing
ברכת כוהנים – Priests Blessing (Numbers 6:22-27)
“Adonai said to Moshe, “Speak to Aharon and his sons, and tell them that this is how you are to bless the people of Isra’el: you are to say to them,
‘Y’varekh’kha Adonai v’yishmerekha.
[May Adonai bless you and keep you.]
Ya’er Adonai panav eleikha vichunekka.
[May Adonai make his face shine on you and show you his favor.]
Yissa Adonai panav eleikha v’yasem l’kha shalom.
[May Adonai lift up his face toward you and give you peace.]’
“In this way they are to put my name on the people of Isra’el, so that I will bless them.”

יהוה Yod Hey Vav Hey – This is the memorial name of God to be put on Israel by the priests

ישמר Ishmare – Keep, protect
ך Kha (cha) – You
Literal: May bless you YHVH, and protect you
May the LORD יהוה bless you and keep/protect you

יאר Ya’er – May the

ופניןPanav – His Face (panim el panim)
אליךEl-ley-cha – My God to you
וי Vi – And
חנךChune-cha – Gracious (chesed, grace) to you
Literal: May יהוה, His Face my God to you and to you grace
The LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you
.ישא יהוה פניו אליךָ וישם לךָ שלום
ישא Yi-sa – Lift up
יהוה Yod Hey Vav Hey
פניוPanav – His Face
אליך El-ley-cha – God’s to You
ו Ve – And
ישם Ya-sem – Give
לך Le-cha – To You
שלום Shalom – Peace
Literal: Lift up יהוה His Face, my God to You, and give you peace.
May the LORD lift His countenance upon you and give you peace.
