April 30, 2013 – Why?

Today I sit and wonder why?  Not why is the sun orange at sunset or why do snowflakes have unique shapes or why do my male guinea fowl chase each other around ten acres nonstop for the second day in a row over one female,  but why are people so arrogant against God?  Why are they so prideful of their ignorance of His Word and yet still claim to think they know who God is, what He thinks, and how He loves.   It doesn’t matter to me if people don’t read their Bibles, but why do these same people think they know God better than those who do read their Bibles and then judge those who do because they feel convicted (aka judged in their minds)?  So here’s my ‘why‘ questions for today.  As the world continues down its path to self-destruction, my questions, no doubt, will  continue.

Why is it that people who don’t read their Bibles automatically think that everyone who ever did anything wrong was stoned to death ‘in Bible times’?  Why is it they don’t read the part that says ‘every matter is established by two or three witnesses’?  Do they think that Jesus/Yeshua just set the woman caught in adultery ‘free’ because he was doing away with the ‘law’?  Do they not realize he said there were ‘no witnesses’ and therefore he could not render a guilty judgment on the woman according to the ‘law’?   Do they forget that he said, ‘Go and sin no more?”  Does anyone consider that witnesses to adultery have to be present and therefore are also committing adultery – if not physically, but with ‘lust of the eyes’?  Do those who don’t read their Bibles realize that had there been witnesses ALL of them would have died by stoning for committing adultery because that would be justice.

“Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron” (1 Timothy 4:2).

Why is it that people who don’t read their Bibles think that those who do are judging homosexuals?  Why do they think that love means allowing everything and stopping nothing?  Do people who don’t read their Bibles also know that God says men should not have sex with animals?  Is it unloving to tell someone they’re wrong if they want to copulate with a sheep or monkey?  I guess the fact that having sex with these two animals brought  syphilis and AIDS into humanity are not sexually transmitted diseases that many ever contemplate their origin.   Why is it that the verse that says ‘it is an abomination to God for a man to lie with a man as he would with a woman’ seems to slip the minds of those who know all about stoning children?  Why is it that people who don’t read their Bibles think the word ‘abomination’ doesn’t mean ‘disgrace, horrible, obscene’?  Why is it that people who don’t read their Bibles think that same-sex marriage is something that God finds acceptable (after he called it an abomination) when He created human beings male and female in order to fill and populate the earth?  Don’t people find it odd that two men or two women have to adopt or have a surrogate because there is no natural way for them to produce offspring?

“Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones” (Romans 1:26).

Why is it that people who don’t read their Bibles think the life of an unborn child is a matter of a woman’s choice and call the challenge to that choice, ‘a war on women’?  Why isn’t it called a ‘war on the unborn child?‘   Do people really believe that a baby born full term from a botched abortion deserves to have its spinal cord severed at its neck because his or her mother made a choice?   When do people who don’t read their Bibles believe their lives actually began?  When their mother decided she wanted them? When on the day of their birth they took their first breath?

“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter” (Isaiah 5:20).

Why do people who don’t read their Bibles think that love condones a multitude of sins when actually love covers a multitude of sins?   Why is it that people who don’t read their Bibles think they know what God’s love looks like?   Why is it that people who don’t read their Bibles believe that God is love, but do not embrace the reality of His love found throughout the Scriptures?

“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him” (1 John 4:9).

Why do people who don’t read their Bibles always think that those who do read their Bibles are judging them?  Do they not know that God is not just some big permissible daddy in the sky, but a real Father whose love includes discipline which involves judgment from the One they have so readily redefined according to their own vain imaginings?   Are they aware that there is a judgment coming that won’t be from me or you or some FB status, but a real deep cut to the heart, bone, and marrow type of judgment?  Why is it that people who don’t know the Word of God quote ‘judge not less you be judged’ while they are judging?  Or ‘take the log out of your eye before you touch my spec’ without understanding the log and spec are the same sin, just difference sizes and not just sin in general?  Do people who don’t read their Bibles realize that anger, rage, slander and filthy language are the logs of murder and immorality?

“For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them’ (Matthew 13:15).

Why is it that people who don’t read their Bibles think men and women like Barak and Michelle Obama are speaking words of love, peace, kindness, goodness when they praise and bless abortion doctors, abortion clinics and homosexuals coming ‘out of the closet’?  Why is it that people who don’t read their Bibles mock those who stand against the murder of babies and same-sex marriage?  Why is it that people who don’t read their Bibles think hell is going to be a massive party town where they will all meet one another and continue where they left off in this life?   I guess they don’t really know what a lake of burning fire and sulfur looks like (neither do I),  but Sodom and Gomorrah might give us a little clue!  How is it that people who don’t read their Bibles actually have the nerve to instruct others about a God they’ve never read about?  How is it people who don’t want to read their Bibles insist on using terminology like marriage, love, sexuality, life and death out of Biblical and foreign to them by their own admission?

“They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts” (Ephesians 4:18).

What would happen if all those people who don’t read their Bibles would stop their orations of ignorance, stop regurgitating nice sounding humanistic clichés and actually start reading the Bible?  What would happen if those who pridefully claim their own ignorance of what the Bible says would actually humble themselves and seek the Lord where He is actually found – in the Bible?

“This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child….” (1 John 3:10).
