January 4, 2013 – Sheep Separating from the Goats

“All the nations will be assembled before him, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates sheep from goats” (Matthew 25:32).

Lately I’ve been thinking about the command to ‘come out from among them and be separate’ (2 Cor. 6:17), and it brought me to the Scripture about the separation of sheep and goats.  Yeshua says in Matthew that when the Son of Man comes, this separation will take place.  This means that we human beings aren’t going to be the ones to accomplish it no matter how much we desire to divide and conquer ourselves.

Yeshua says that he is the good shepherd and he will lay down his life for his sheep.

“I am the good shepherd.  The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep” (John 10:11).

His sheep listen to his voice and they follow him.

“My sheep listen to my voice, I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27).

Over the past 30 years, I have watched some subtle and not so subtle changes occurring in the so-called church.  While erroneous doctrines took over the church to make it more progressive  – women in leadership, acceptance of homosexuals and trans-genders into the Body,  divided families where children, youth and parents worshipped separately – sheep began to leave the fold, not in judgment or in anger, but in conviction by the Spirit that something was amiss in the foundation built on the Apostles and Prophets.   They reunited their families in spiritually-centered homes,  untwisted Biblical truth from lies and deceptions, and began to look and act differently than the average church-goer.

Could it be that as more and more sheep begin to listen to the voice of the good shepherd, that the goats will just become more and more obvious?
