October 31, 2012 – The Rainbow of Impending Judgement

A Rainbow Over New York by Noah Kalina 10/30/2012

I’ve been reading that some people believe the rainbow(s) seen after Hurricane Sandy are prophesying impending judgment.  The responses to these statements are ones of hatred toward God and calling Him derogatory names.  So much for what God actually said about the rainbow!  So much for those who call themselves ‘believers’ who are supposed to bring glory to God rather than profane His name!

The Scripture says the rainbow appeared AFTER the JUDGEMENT as a COVENANT PROMISE by God NOT to DESTROY the world again by water.  He is a LOVING FATHER and the rainbow is HIS REMINDER as well as ours – HE is the ONE who is in CONTROL.

To turn the rainbow from a promise to a judgment does nothing to bring the world to repentance.  It only fuels the fire so to speak of the world’s hatred of God as already portrayed by religious fanatics who twist the Scriptures into fire and brimstone and always impending doom.    True,  Yeshua says that before His return the world would be “As the days of Noah.”  In those days there was great sin and spiritual deception and so it is today.  However, the rainbow also remains from the ‘days of Noah’ to remind us of an ETERNAL COVENANT OF PROMISE given to those who were saved through the deluvial judgment.  It’s a promise of hope reflected in the colors of the bow!

Perhaps rather than wagging our tongues at those who lived through the ‘judgement’ and reminding them even more of their distress, we should be raising our hands in praise for God’s great mercy and deliverance.   This, to me, is the meaning and purpose of the rainbow FOR US  who actually get to see it and ‘remember’ it’s real purpose.

“And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds,  I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.  So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.””  (Genesis 9:12-17).
