June 8, 2012 – Birth-pangs before the Day of Messiah

What the Holy Scriptures say regarding the birth-pangs in the days before Messiah returns:

“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.  People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,  without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good,  treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—  having a form of godliness but denying its power” (2 Timothy 3:2-5).

What the Rabbis said about the birth-pangs before the Messiah returns from Abraham Cohen’s Everyman’s Talmud, page 349, Bab. Talmud Peshaim 98a.

“In the generation in which the Son of David (Yeshua) will come, youths will insult their elders, the old will have to stand up before the young, a daughter will revolt against her mother … and a son will feel no shame in the presence of his father …. Meeting places for study will be turned into brothels, the learning of the scribes will decay and sin-fearing men will be condemned.”
